Why is the project called M-Generations?
The name is short for “Mobile Generations.” This refers to both the older generation who were physically mobile and moved to the U.S. from Kenya, and the younger generation who have grown up with mobile phones and digital technology.
Who can participate?
Eight people: four adults of any age, and four younger people between ages 10-20.
What is required?
All thatʼs required is your interest and a little time. Youʼll need to be able to attend trainings and workshops with the rest of the group about once a month.
What will I learn?
You will learn how to shoot video from a phone. If you choose to, you can learn how to edit video. Most importantly, you will learn a little more about the lives of your fellow congregants, both adults and kids.
When does this project start and end?
It starts in early September and ends in December 2010.
If itʼs a video project, why would we use phones?
Many mobile phones can shoot video. Theyʼre also easier to use and much less expensive than camcorders or cameras. And although we’ll be using an offline system to edit our large project, new services offer video editing on the internet for free. By learning the basics of video editing across platforms, you will be able to edit video online in the future.
